ORHP ANNOUNCES GRANT OPPORTUITY
INVITES COMMENTS UNTIL MARCH 15, 2009 ON ELECTRONIC HEALTH RECORD STANDARDS AND CERTIFICATION CRITERIA
One of the most important regulations to be produced in that past year are those governing health care provider implementation of electronic health record systems, and health information exchanges. The EHR Incentive Program will provide reimbursement rewards and penalties for EHR implementation, as well as for public reporting. The rules apply to hospitals and clinics alike. The public comment period is through March 15, 2009. Health providers should scrutinize the regulations carefully and not hesitate to offer comments if you think that your facility will not be ready to meet the proposed standards by the proposed dates.
The National Association of Rural Health (NRHA) has disseminated meaningful use surveys to critical access hospitals throughout the country in an effort to understand the extent to which the hospitals can meet the proposed standards. If the NRHA analysis shows impending disparities, NRHA is prepared to submit comments that request appropriate modifications.

*** PREVENTING MRSA: IT'S IN OUR HANDS ***
The Arizona Public Health Association (AzPHA) is a non-profit, professional organization working to improve the public's health and to achieve
health status equality for all Arizonans. Currently AzPHA is promoting a Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) Prevention Campaign
aimed at reducing community acquired MRSA (CA-MRSA). To do this, AzPHA, along with the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association, has prepared
materials including: brochures, fact sheets, posters, magnets, and easily implemented prevention plans for distribution.
This information is available as a MRSA Toolkit Prevention Packet, or electronically as PDF files.
If you would like to receive a free Toolkit so you may promote MRSA education and prevention at your facility,
or would simply like some posters and/or fact sheets to display, contact lindsey@azpha.org with your request.
Specify if you would like an entire packet or simply a few select materials.
Please forward this information to any party thay may be interested.
High risk areas for CA-MRSA include schools, daycares, gyms, health clubs, and homeless shelters,
however proper handwashing and sanitation is important for everyone.
Those of us at AzPHA look forward to your participation as we strive for a healthy community!
Thank you,
Lindsey Trutter
